Anthony if you are out there and reading any of these posts from the FOODIES who live vicariously through you and your show. I want to send this sincere and heartfelt thank you. I just watched the Beirut show. I was intrigued, curious, hungry, and moved. I admire and appreciate your approach to sharing your culinary travel experiences. I really do beleive the ratings you give a dish, and would venture to try some of the dishes you feature when/if I ever get to see some of the parts of the world you have eaten through. However, your acknowledgement of the troops, how you were received, treated and observed them doing their jobs. Their commitment to represent the USA, and protect US and humanity made that show even more special. I felt the impact it had on your heart, the heaviness and some guilt of enjoying being at the pool and relaxing.
My spouse and son have both commited to serve our country. Any appreciation given and shown, I want to take the time to recognize, it is so much more than some people still see or understand about the Military. We miss our families when they are out helping others, and in those environments so far from home, working in such dangerous conditions. As a mom it is frightening. The world is changing, and you are not the only person who has felt the impacts of those changes deep within ourselves. USS Nashville is a beautiful ship, and I was so proud to see the crew shown and complimented for their generosity, kindness, and compassion.
I watch you and your show for more than just to see where you are going. It is so much more interesting to me to watch the change and growth that happens within you as you travel through it culinarywise and culturalwise. No two countries have been the same for you. AND that is the way I would want to travel anywhere in the world. Best of luck. Keep taking me along on your journey's.
