Gallery: Asia's Crazy Bamboo Scaffolding 2

Hong Kong once again.

I can't even imagine how much bamboo it takes to cover this skyscraper in Hong Kong.

It looks like a big tumbleweed. Cambodia.

Same thing, different angle. Wow!

Bamboo as far as the eyes can see.

Hong Kong.

Bamboo city.

Bamboo scaffolding is being used to build this casino in Macau.

Hong Kong.

Which way to KFC?

China.

Bamboo is some strong stuff. I am in the middle of building a bamboo fence around my back yard.
I had no idea how strong, and how many things it was used for. I'll add this one to the list.
I am very impressed with Bamboo.

In Hong Kong you have to go to trade school to learn the skill before you can go into bamboo scaffolding business. This practice has been in used for a very long time so obviously it is proven. From what I know bamboo is, pound for pound, stronger than steel. I think this technique should be introduced to the west. It will be more environmentally friendly.

Those are some awesome pictures of "bamboo in action". Wish more people had the understanding of the true potential for bamboo in the US. Most people hear the word bamboo and think "invasive plant". It's really too bad.
