Springfield, Vermont Wins Simpsons Challenge

USA Today announced today that Springfield, Vermont (pop. 9,078 in 2000) has won the Simpsons movie Springfield Challenege. The small town received 15,367 votes out of 109,582, ~~less than~~ almost 1,000 more than the much larger Springfield, Il. If my math is correct (and it rarely is), that's 1.6 votes per person in Springfield, VT. Weird!

The new Simpsons movie will premiere on July 21 at the Springfield Movie Theater located at 26 Main St.

"less than 1,000 more than" - great writing skills there, Justin! A hint: "almost 1,000 more than" would have done the trick.

How could Oregon lose?

Geographically, only Oregon could claim to be close to all of the things that appear on every show. A canyon, waterfalls, volcano, glaciers, mountains, badlands, dessert, dams, Las Vegas, the ocean, nuclear power plant, The only thing that Vermont has is that you can drive to New York City (one episode).

I am one of 200 volunteers who appeared in the winning Springfield Vermont video. After we helped our local Chamber of Commerce win the contest, they turned their backs on us. We should have been the first in town to be invited to view the world premiere of The Simpsons Movie but instead we were excluded so the elite members of the community could be issued special invitations. And then not even a word of thanks or mention of us in the public ceremony outside the theater. Read more and view our famous winning video now at our new website:
