The Sweatiest Cities in America
"If you ever need to fill a swimming pool with sweat, and you need to do it in a hurry," reads this article by Live Science, "you might enlist the entire population of Phoenix, Ariz., home to the sweatiest people in the nation." Mmm ... a swimming pool filled with sweat: how refreshing! For the second year in a row, Phoenix is ranked the number 1 sweatiest city in America, producing "26 ounces of sweat per hour while walking outdoors." With a population of 1.5 million, that's 39 million ounces of sweat in one city, or almost 2 million 20-ounce bottles worth per hour. Wow! Here are the 10 sweatiest cities in America (or where not to travel to this summer):
- Phoenix
- Las Vegas
- Tucson, Ariz.
- Dallas
- Corpus Christi, Texas
- San Antonio, Texas
- Austin, Texas
- Shreveport, La.
- Houston
- Waco, Texas

There is no way you can compare (in Texas) Corpus Christi to Dallas, Austin, Waco or San Antonio...we have a great sea breeze that works wonders. I was born in Denver & you can't tell me that those summers don't make you sweat! As far as Las Vegas, you may not sweat but everything you own will melt, you'll get a mouthfull of dirt with every breath & the restaurants & such actually pump water into the air!

live science people need to get their brains checked out. i have lived in phoenix and i moved here from brownsville tx and phoenix is not even close this place is a breeze because its a dry heat. when i go back home i sweat even more because my body is no longer used to that type of heat and humidity. u can but all the heat u want but if its a dry heat give me a break try to live way down south like near the gulf of mexico then you will see what real heat is

We Texans are just a bunch of sweathogs. What can I say?

Obviously the "testers" never spent any time on the central west coast of Florida!

Evidently a lot of you have not been to Shreveport. Yes, New Orleans should probable be first, but Shreveport ranks 2nd above any town in TX, from my personal experience. I've lived in Shreveport for almost 40 years, and have visited TX often. With Louisiana's subtropical climate, Shreveport definitely deserves to be higher on the list of sweaty places.

I posted earlier this week that I was surprised the Georgia & Florida did not make the list. I've been thinking about the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico pushing that warm moist air up into the Southeast including Mississippi and Texas. I travel to Texas often and I have been in San Antonio when it was 105 degrees and thought it barely feels like 90 to me because it was dry heat and not the wet heat we have in Georgia. The Carolinas used to be cooler but they now have become quite humid over the years as I also visit those states frequently.

Its so humid in Gulfport, MS that you sweat while you're taking a shower if you don't have the a/c blasting.
