The Weird Things People Eat Around the World

So is it pickled snake head? Or is snake head a type of fish? Either way, I'm not eating it. Spotted in an Asian market in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Black beans are good. Cheese is good. But black bean cheese? I dunno -- it sort of looks like a bowl of ash. I guess I'd try it; it is the natural black foodstuffs, after all.

Found in San Francisco.

It's tough to read the label, so I'll just tell you: it's cow lung.

Trout isn't that weird really, but they hardly look "live."

Spotted at the Raleigh, N.C. BugFest.

Ay-yo Adrienne... you got something in your teeth.

What's Haw anyway? Found in Beijing.

Scary.

I am a veteran of the Viet Nam war and my first day in country I ordered a steak sandwich and later found out it was fried "Dog". You don't see any strays over there. I am still a dog lover till this day. :D

Haws are just the berries of the hawthorn tree or shrub. In England during WWII, it was almost impossible to get citrus fruit and people tended to boil their cabbage so long they destroyed the vitamin C. It was said that England survived on its "hips and its haws"--the rose hips from some kinds of roses, and the hawthorn berries, both of them very rich in vitamin C. Incidentally, though I am as squeamish as most other people, I do know that a lot of things we would never dream of eating, like locusts (as in swarm of locusts) and grubs, contain more protein and less fat than a lot of what we do eat. I did eat some snails once. My father and grandfather loved frog legs, so I tried them once. I've heard they taste like chicken, but they don't particularly, and they're awfully dry. Also, if you don't cut the ligament behind the knee they kick when they're being fried. My Uncle Brother (never mind--southernism--his name was really Walter but everybody called him Brother) loved rattlesnake stew.

Bull testicles... otherwise known as "calf fries" or more commonly "Rocky Mountain Oysters" are actually pretty good!
They are prepped by removing the membrane that surrounds the testicle then thin sliced and breaded
the same way as chicken fried steak and deep fried.
Don't knock 'em unless you've tried 'em!

No no no.
Hamburger Haw is simply shrimp paste. It has nothing to do with berry's or anything else mentioned. Since the shrimps are grounded to a paste they are just make a reference to "Hamburger". "Haw" means shrimp in chinese. They are just putting the english and chinese term together as a product name.
Looking at the picture it's just shrimp paste and it's rather yummy used in Chinese cooking.
