Hmm I think it boils down like this: Firstly the knife and fork is a way better system than chop sticks.
However, due to tradition there are still large parts of Asia who still use chop sticks.
So, if you're go to Asia you could take the chopstick/spoon hybrid. But then you wouldn't half look like a dick.
If you really can't deal with chopsticks then you're better off asking for a knife and fork.
