As Arex mentioned, the best Din Tai Fung is in Taipei. Being a veggie, you definitely missed out on the best dish they have to offer, the xiaolongbao (steamed soup buns). They don't do a veggie version to my knowledge, unfortunately, but that's the dish they are most known for.
The Taiwan branch is a lot less fancy than the one in Beijing, and a little cheaper as well, from what I can tell. In Taipei, it's so popular that you almost always have to take a number and wait for a table.
