I have just this week returned from an Inside Passage cruise to Alaska but that doesnt even compare to a trip we took in a small RV about 15 yrs ago, when we took two months to drive through Canada into the Alaskan wilderness via the ALCAN highway, among other adventures. It was the most awesome trip of my life. As we couldnt get to Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau etc. by road my husband wanted to make the inland passage trip. I found those towns completely as described and enjoyed seeing the glaciers but if I had choose between both, I would definitely make that trek north again through what is described as the Last Frontier with its abundance of wild life and extreme beauty - a land still not overwhelmed by human habitation. Personally, I would not make such a cruise again, shopping doesnt interest me.
