I can sometimes be a bit nervous in the middle of flights, and my iPod has helped me quite a bit. It almost makes time go faster. I listen to my favorite album, and usually about 4 or 5 songs into it, we're ready to land and the flight is almost over.
Regarding "tropical island" imagery. Most of us are always "moving, going, doing" in our daily lives. The idea that one can truly stop and relax and enjoy the moment is what is most appealing to me in a tropical island vacation.
I've been on several beach trips where people are so concerned with what was happening when and what the daily plan was, that it stopped feeling relaxing and became a headache. My ideal vacation is "doing nothing."
