I used to go to our local flying club and most of the planes there had auto retracting lines once the gliders released.
It would be rather dangerouse to have a line towing behind a plane due to the high chance of it snagging onto any type of structure.

this sign is probably warning us about future airplanes.

it's stupid.

It is really a weird street sign but my take is that, it definitely has something to do with airplanes. Most probably the private plane types based on the photo.
Anyway, such a short but engaging post you have here! I am choosing it as my "Post of the Day" for my "Post Awards" blog.

I agree with the top poster that it's warning of returning tow-planes that pull gliders up. In the 1980's I was in a gliding club at North Weald aerodrome in Essex (UK) and we had a tow plane coming back to land after hauling a glider up.
The pilot for some reason left his usual path and came in from a different direction only to realise that the steel tow cable was hanging lower than the electricity lines he heading for. He pulled the cable release and the cable fell into the power lines, swung down and hit a cow which was electrocuted on the spot. Cost the gliding club about £400 to replace the cow.

I was in the crop spraying for 20 years. This is a crop airplane. At low altitude, you don't see a road. Look Out

rester hook? Speeling landings??? Exactly what is speeling? Do you mean do you mean arrester and speeding possibly? If so, that is what is used on aircraft carriers for jets!

Looks like the weed man was at it again. Another pot party.

I think the one I clicked on means; "Don't try to climb up the embankment, or if you do and get nastily scraped up, don't cry to us." The plane thing I think means, planes are coming into land, and apparently bounce off the cars. Wonder if that is covered under my insurance...

I've actually seen a sign like this. I simply means there is a danger of your car being hit by low flying planes from a rural short runway with little room to gain altitude.
