Worldwide Public Transport Resources

It's about time someone did this.

There is finally a resource which has maps for all the public transport rail lines around the world. Heading off to Moscow and don't want to spend time underground looking for a map of the metro? Print one out in advance.

UrbanRail.net is organized by continent and country. Simply click on Europe, for example, and up pops a map of all the major cities with public rail transport.

Each city listing includes a handy map, information about the system, history, photos, and external links in case you want to research even further.

A section on Practical Information includes the operating hours and the costs. More importantly, it lists various passes which can help make your visit all the more economical. For example, a single ticket on the Oslo T-Bane costs 20 Norwegian Krone. Yet, a 24-hour "Dagskort" pass costs just 60 NOK--a much better deal if you plan on taking many rides throughout the day.
