Outdoor Chinese Urinals -- Not for the Modest!

This thing is essentially a step up from a diaper, but eh, I'd still use it. They seriously need to put them by my house (and around every other college campus in the United States). If I had a dollar for every time I've seen drunk frat guys peeing on the side of a building, I'd quit my job and travel the world telling everyone how I got rich simply by seeing a bunch of guys pee outside of a bathroom. I'd be famous! Though now that I think about it, even if these were sprinkled throughout town around campus, I bet I'd still see guys peeing in the streets. What's with that?

If I recall, Amsterdam has had a version of these for some time. Your nose will alert you of their presence (among other things) from time to time.

In Amsterdam we've got exactly the same thing except without the little door. They're often entirely full on Queen's day or other such events.

Well we don't have these yet in Korea but it wouldn't surprise me! Co-ed toilets are not uncommon. At my uni. the professor's washroom is for both, and the males think nothing of using the urinals instead of stall. I think it took me about 8 months to realized that males and females shared, and I was so embarrassed to walk in on a Korean professor doing his thing at the urinal! I seldom use that bathroom anymore!

Actually, when I give this a bit more thought, what was I saying? Men in Korea don't need a urinal they just use the nearest wall! (funny and true)

hey, it's a revolution. it beats the public bathrooms currently in use throughout most of china--like wading ankle-deep through urine, stepping over the open troughs carrying various unspeakables, while seriously contemplating taking up smoking just to tolerate the smell.
and privacy screens, toilet paper, paper towels, soap in bathrooms? hey, forget it, you're in china.

This is really nothing. The farther south you go in China, especially in the countryside (outside Zhenhai, for instance), the less private the facilties become. Reduced to basics, the common unisex toilet facilities consist of a couple of lengths of bamboo to sit on, a couple of cross-braces for them to be lashed to, a thatched roof, and four uprights for the roof to stand on. Not for the faint of heart.

Ok, in my opinion this appears to be the same as peeing into a trash can with my back to a crowd. Why not jsut do that?

Meanwhile, the women are standing in a line 15-deep somewhere, waiting to use the facilities...

What's the fuss? We all pee, and we all know how everyone does it. We just need to get over our "privacy" problems and get on with life.

I must live a sheltered life... This is unbelievable! LOL!! Funny stuff.... years ago, it was LEGAL to pee (like in an alley, for example) in Germany. Not sure if it's still legal, but even the polizei (cops) would do it! AFTER they had their beer with their lunch, I suppose! This nifty little creation is just short of that. Why can't women have the luxury of extra bathrooms? Right, we're lined up 15 deep is RIGHT!! When are WOMEN going to come up with a better idea for women's facilities?

My first day in Vietnam back in 1968 was a real shocker.
I saw hundreds of people piss and crap right in the streets in the middle of rush hour. Both women and men.
It was no wonder that all of Vietnam smelled like raw crap. Really.

Is the USA the only country that routinely has urinals in men's restrooms? They have been commonplace for years, just not out in the open like that?!! Crazy!
