Carving Powder...in Iran
It may surprise many people that Iran has numerous snow-capped peaks and several popular ski destinations. In this excellent documentary about their trip, however, Nazim presents some magical mountains, showcases some wicked shredders, and helps to show that although Iran is part of the so-called "axis of evil," it is, in many ways, not that far away from the rest of the world.
Don't buy into Nazim's thesis that there's killer powder in Iran? Check out 88-year-old Hal Luke's video response to Nazim's video. He loves skiing in Iran, too.

I actually saw this video a while ago and was totally impressed by it. If only there were more stuff like this showing what the "real" iran is like. ... And Iran really does have good skiing!!

Great vid. Its been 32 years since I skied Shim Shek, back in the days of the Shah. Great memories of Tehran, the Persian people, Tehran Polytechnic, Darakeh, and the Alborz Mountains.
Thank you.

Skiing in Iran is one of the best experiences; I encourage everyone to try it. Iran also has one of the best skiing conditions in the world and there are remote skiing locations that offer summer skiing as well(yes this is true :) ). I hope everyone gets the drive to go ski there and to check out the other ski resorts like Darbandsar, Tochal, and Ab ali in Tehran. Chelgerd is also a popular one in the city of Shahre-Kurd in southern Iran, this place is said to offer summer skiing. I hope to go back again and I would love to see more people comming from the west to experience the thrill there. Thanks :)
