I've done a lot of solo travel in my time mostly because I couldn't convince any friends into joining my adventures in far off lands; they wanted to go to Paris, I wanted to go to Siberia.
But of course, this was in the days before the internet became such a powerful force to bring people together. Companions2Travel is a British based site which hooks up travelers heading in the same direction. Simply type in a keyword, age range and gender and up pops a handful of potential travel partners.
Each profile has a photo and lists personal interests, travel destinations, activities and the type of accommodation preferred. Membership is £5 and yes, the majority of the 14,175 members are British.
