Portland is one of my favorite US cities, and I love to see the city add new attractions, so long as those attractions are not lame. Even though the jury is still out on the matter, the new Portland Aerial Tram seems to be on the right side of that equation. The tram opens at the end of the end of the month, and climbs from the South Waterfront district to the Marquam Hill campus of Oregon Health & Science University.
The cars seem like something out of science fiction and all the free rides for opening day are booked. It looks like you can ride the tram and see Mount Hood in the distance while also spying the Willamette River, which bisects the city. There’s not much to see at the site here yet, but I’ll keep an eye out for pics and first hand experiences riding the new attraction.
