Chicago’s Milennium Park

I’m in Chicago right now and one of the things I REALLY wanted to do here was see the city’s (relatively) new Millennium Park. Urban parks are a big deal and can largely define the livability of a city. Central Park and Prospect Park are unquestionably two of the great civic architectural accomplishments in the history of humankind.

If that sounds bloated and over-wrought, well, then you haven’t spent much time in New York City (itself the greatest metropolis on the planet). So, yes, urban parks are a big deal, and it is a genuine thrill to see a new one emerge, especially one as lovely, varied and unique as Chicago’s Millennium Park. I did not plan this entry to be one about words. I wanted it to be one about pictures, since I snapped a few during an unseasonably warm late November yesterday. So I posted a few pictures of Millennium Park over at the Gadling Flickr site. Here you go.
