Map of the world

Happy Mappy

Ever arrive someplace and wonder what there is to do? I mean, it's one thing to go to New York City where you know that attractions like the American Museum of Natural History and the Empire State Building are right at your taxi-tips. But here I am right now in Illinois, in a little town outside of Chicago and wondering what there is to do. Sure, I'll be heading into the city in a bit, but meanwhile I'm waiting for folks to get ready and wondering what's about.

So then I get work from a gadling reader about a new site called Happy Mappy that pretty much solves this problem. Happy Mappy lets you search locations by zip code, and them provides a map with points of interest all nicely organized so you can find something to do. You can zoom in or zoom out to refine your search, and each destination has keywords and a short description as well as addresses, phone numbers and, where applicable,a Web site. The interface is a little archaic-looking, bu the functionality seems solid. A pretty useful resource.
