Slingbox is a cool new gadget which plugs into your DVR at home and “slings” the recordings to you anywhere in the world via the web. All you have to do is sign online in some far-off land and you can watch that UCLA game you recorded 10,000 miles away.
I’m not a big fan of this concept for vacation travelers–why travel half way round the world to sit in your wifi hotel room and watch TV?
This is a great idea for business travelers, however, who find themselves with nothing better to do than sit at the hotel cocktail bar and eat peanuts.
And expats longing for some TV from home? Maybe you can talk a relative into placing a Slingbox on their TV and allowing you to plug in. You’ll never miss another South Park episode during your whole tour of duty in Malaysia.
