How to Sneak into Hotel Pools
Back in college my friends and I used to visit the luxury hotels in town and sneak in to use their pools. It was usually pretty easy. We'd have our swimsuits on under our jeans and just waltz in through the lobby like we were staying there. Then it was a matter of finding the pool and diving in. We were only caught once, at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. We were intercepted by alert security wondering why four college students were wandering around the hallways.
Now of course, we here at Gadling would never promote such illegal and nefarious activities as mentioned above, but we would like to point you in the direction of someone else who is glad to do so.
One of our favorite sites, Infiltration, has a whole section on sneaking into hotel pools in the Toronto area. The site offers some general tips such as, "when you enter a hotel, don't immediately hop on the elevator and head directly to the pool. If anyone happens to be monitoring the lobby and the pool area, they're bound to wonder why you didn't stop at your room first. Always take an indirect route."
The infiltrators who did the intel work for the article break down their findings by individual hotel. They mention the location of the pools, guest access, camera locations, security detail, and a handful of very helpful tips to avoid the old heave-ho reception we received at the Bonaventure. In fact, when a pool infiltration is performed flawlessly you may even be blessed with the kind of greeting received by one of the pool trespassers; "a helpful staff member was even so kind as to offer me a plastic Four Seasons bag in which to carry my wet bathing suit (a wonderful credibility prop to use on my next visit)."
Mission accomplished!

If you think about how many guests stay at any hotel and how many people really use the pool,,Come on!!!
Does the Hotel offer a refund at the end of your stay because you didn't use the pool,, The Hotel is so way ahead of the game, I am always in Atlantic City and stay at finer hotels, never one time did I use the pool but I bet its figured into the cost of my room, which is comped anyway but thats not for everyone.

I am employed as a pool and spa manager in a well known hotel. It costs money for chemicals to maintain pools. The more activity the greater the costs to keep the water in balance. I don't know why anypne would think that it doesn't.

This is great info! I and many others get into as many places as free as possible.
Pools, theaters, private parties, weddings, amuesment parks. It's nothing more than a harmless hobby. And money is always spent there so who cares?
The latest was Knotts Berry Farm. During the Halloween Haunt we bought Security uniforms from the little man who runs Security there and with the crappy real security kids working there we just walked past them pretending to talk on security radios.
The real rent a cops did'nt have a clue!
You can do this at all the parks in So Cal for a 20$ investment. Do Harm no Foul!

Just got home from Puerto Rico. Although we had our own rental, we pool hopped all over the island. Come to find out, some resorts encouraged a visit to thier pools - much to our delight! We would stay at different places for hours spending money on lunches, drinks, and even some gambling at the pool bars. One five star resort would let you past the guarded gate for a parking fee...$30/car and you could stay there all day.

It is especially fun to go pool hopping in LAs VEGAS@!@ where they have the best pools around, just recently we went to the Golden Nugget and they said that their renovation was going to be finished, but low and behold it wasn't so we went to Bunion's and I paid the front desk clerk 5 dollars for a room key that wasn't scanned for a room I just wanted the key for the pool I just wanted to get tan not to use the pool and it was great and it worked!! Another smart idea to get into a Las Vegas pool!! VIVA LAS VEGAS BABY!!

I don't think it's a good idea to advise people on how to sneak in places where they shouldn't be.
If you owned the hotel, or managing it at least, you wouldn't want to be pestered with such nuisances.
There are public pools where you can swim at an affordable rate. Also informing people of pools
wherabouts and location of surveillance cameras is not such a smart thing to do. There are bad elements out there who might use this kind of information for criminal purposes. Please be responsible with what you post on the net.

Pool hopping has been a long tradition for those of us who spend alot of time on the road. Sometimes while out enjoying the rock climbing outside of Vegas in Red Rocks we would take the day off at some of the places downtown and then head back to our campsites. No harm done. Great time had.

As a business owner I am appalled that AOL would assist people in stealing a service from a business. Although it would seem that it does not cost to use a pool, it does. More chemicals , filteration and other costs related to use of pools becomes a cost to the owner of the holtel!

well that makes up for all those surcharged phone calls i made in la at the embassy suites because my cell broke. or blocking out ports to make my vonage softphone useless so id have to use hotel phone.Charging me 1.25 for a free local call. 15 bucks a day for hi speed internet. 12 bucks for a 2 dollar beer. youre whining about a few bucks in chemicals when i got charged 11 dollars for a 10 minute phone call? get real. maybe i should go get my entire neighborhood to jump in.
