Cheap San Fran
There is no city I get on a plane and visit more often than San Francisco. A quick, one hour flight from my home in Los Angeles, and I'm in what I consider to be one of the greatest cities on this planet.
But, like all great locations, San Francisco can be expensive.
I was therefore rather pleased to discover an article in the New York Times, Affordable San Francisco. The article focuses on affordable hotel accommodations which the New York Times considers as anything up to $200 a night. Well, anything up to $200 that is not rat infested and stinky.
Their short list has some rather impressive digs such as the $125 a night Hotel des Arts on Bush Street--a hotel that the New York Times considers "possibly the best hotel deal in the city."

There is a chaper way to stay in San Francisco during the weekend. Drive 30 minutes down to Silicon Valley and stay at a very nice/luxrious chain hotels for under $ 100.00. It seems that hotel rate plunge (over 50% - 75%) during the weekend since most business travelers go home for the weekend.
