Birder's Dream

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Or so they say. But what would they say about having several hundred or thousand birds in your hand? Or at least, digital versions of birds...which are probably not very good eating. But that's what is offered in this rather interesting handheld gadget that is probably very popular among that population of folks for whom birding is a passion. I make no bones about the fact that I don't really "get" the whole birding thing.

I enjoy seeing birds, but I can't imagine camping out in the cold for days on end to see a yellow bellied sap sucker. Maybe that's just me. But I was intrigued by this little hand held gizmo from National Geographic that contains a library of more than 1,600 bird images, as well as 650 range maps and detailed bird information from the Field Guide to the Birds of North America.
