Word for the Travel Wise (10/03/06)
It's quite obvious Malta isn't one of our most blogged about places, but I do my best with this word feature to make sure it gets some of the action. However, I have been providing with you baby talk. It's time to rev up our language motors and really start talking Maltese. Now hit the gas and GO!Today's word is a Maltese word used in Malta:
Jien jisimni... - My name is...
BBC Languages Quick Fix allows one to download essential holiday phrases like this to store in your mp3 player for the big trip ahead. You can hear audio of some very basic words on their site as well. For a full run down on the history and a thorough section on survival Maltese head over to aboutmalta.com. I'm not too certain how much the survival Maltese will be needed considering the country's other official lang happens to be English and they happen to have around 40 English learning language schools.
Past Maltese words: Fejn huma t-tojlezz?, sahha, xorb

Yeah, you've got a good point there. Not a lot of people really do mind other cultures, such as Maltese. So my hats off to you for such a brilliant idea.

After learning a great deal about how some cleaning people work.....maybe you wont want to stay in a hotel/motel.........do they use the same cleaning utensils from the toilet, tub, to the sinks???? many times the beds are just made up with the same sheets pillow cases, etc. and most of all i hope the wash clothes and towels are put in the wash not just dried...some people bring there own pillows and sheets use your own judgement traveling...in Miami we had a dead lizzard under the bed for our entire stay..that was a Howard Johnson Motor Lodge a few years back, also some rooms that offer pets need to be looked at thoroughly... in New Mexico, cant remember name, a few years back, carpeting had bad stains in it and fowl pet odor but we were too tired to push on looking for another place. We had a small dog with us going from California back to New York. One Hotel chain in Phoenix Arizona had roaches the size of your thumb on the walls , the desk clerk gave us a room all the way around the backside of the hotel bypassing what seemed to be many vacant rooms nearing to the lobby...it was late at night and the room was dark probably for a few days, when i turned the light switch on YUK!!!!! We LEFT and went to a neighboring Hampton Inn that was BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The roach story was either a Motel 6 or Super 8 off the Black Canyon Freeway near a Mall in Northern Phoenix Arizona and the staff wasn't the easiest to talk with.I was soooo mad that the patron standing next to me was holding the handle of his revolver like he was trying to intimidate me to shut up, meanwhile my daughter Ran out of the room and fell over a curb and cut her arm because of the roach infestation!!! USE YOUR BETTER JUDGEMENT PEOPLE WHEN TRAVELING!!!
