If you know how to travel, it doesn't cost very much. For starters, visit less-developed countries, like China or India, which are more interesting than Europe anyway. While there, if you stay away from fancy hotels and expensive restaurants, the cost will be quite moderate. A person who knows how to rough it can actually spend less money per day in a foreign country than he would at home. Of course, air fare cannot be avoided.
