America's Best Restaurants
It's that time of year again where Gourmet Magazine rates America's Top 50 Restaurants.
If you are a traveling foodie, this is the list for you.
As might be expected, quite a few of the restaurants are located in New York. If you want to visit all 50, however, you're going to drop a lot of dough on airline tickets; the remainder of the restaurants are located throughout the country (although three of the top five are found in California).
And what's #1 on the list this year?
Alinea in Chicago. Check out Alinea's mouthwatering "tomato" thing in the above photo. I'm not too sure what it is, but it looks like some culinary choo-choo train that's about to go down the valley, up the mountain and one day disappear into the big dark tunnel known as my mouth. Mmmm...

If you're a traveller you need a fast and cheap food (not fast food), not expensive restaurants. Of course if you're not a rich businessman

I have to disagree with #1. When I travel, my destinations are often designed around food - often a mix of inexpensive and expensive, but not always. For me, it's the experience I'm after. It all depends on what you are into.
