The Jawbone’s Connected to the Ear bone…

If it’s been a good year, I always try to treat myself to a tropical vacation where I can lounge in the sun and wile away the hours swimming endlessly in azure blue waters.

So, how does one improve on such a perfect scenario? A little bit of music, underwater music, that is.

Underwater headphones have been around for a while but since water has a funny way of distorting sound (and conducting electricity), they haven’t really been worth the money. But now, a new design has circumvented the water challenge and promises to deliver crystal clear music for avid swimmers.

The SwiMP3 uses your own human skeleton to transfer sounds. The innovative technology transfers “sound vibrations from the cheek bone to the inner ear.” The fluid in the ear vibrates and music fills your head–perfect for allowing the Jaws soundtrack to really inspire your swim workout.

I haven’t tried it myself, but the product is getting some fine reviews.
