Another day, another Top Ten list of Beaches.
This one is different, however. I promise!
This list has nothing to do with gnarly waves, killer bikini lines, or local fish taco stands. Instead, Forbes Magazine has teamed up with the Clean Beaches Council and the U.S. Geological Survey Coastal and Watershed Studies Program in St. Petersburg to search for beaches with "unique geologic features, innovative management practices and progressive environmental safeguards."
This is rather weighty-sounding parameters, but if you take a peek at the above photo of Cleopatra's Beach on Sedir Island, Turkey, (chosen for its bizarre ooids--round calcium carbonate particles), you'll realize that this is a list of very, very cool beaches indeed. Swimming be damned!
