Holiday Wish List: Curtain Bluff, Antigua

While I’m from the Caribbean, I lived the majority of my life in the United States; it’s only recently that I’ve returned to reside in Trinidad.  Because we’ve come to Trinidad as a result of my husband’s job, there’s no telling how long we’ll be here (we could be transferred at a moment’s notice), so one of my goals is to see a few more of the islands of the Caribbean before we’re required to leave.

I have to say that I’m intrigued by this article on Curtain Bluff Resort in Antigua — it sounds amazing.  It’s a relatively small hotel (only 72 — tiny by most resort standards), and rather expensive (starting at just below $600/night) — but it’s all-inclusive, with meals, drinks and activities (including scuba diving!) included in the nightly fee.  I’m impressed to read that 60% of the guests are return visitors, and — get this — one-third of the guests are second-generation visitors.  Besides, judging by the number of things there are to do in Antigua, it has all the makings of a great vacation.

Now I just have to figure out when to go — soon, when we can take our daughter to enjoy the sites, or in February, when the resort closes its doors to children.  Hmm.  Could make for a great Valentine’s Day weekend…
