Wildest Cities
When I read the Men’s Journal headline, World's Wildest Cities, I thought it to be
yet another ranking of the best places to get drunk and fall down. Wildest, however, in Men’s
Journal jargon apparently refers to the outdoors.
The article suddenly appeared much more interesting.
Rio de Janeiro is mentioned for their fantastic beaches (Ipanema!), mountains, outdoor sports, and flirting. Cape Town is praised for much of the same, in addition to diving and canyoneering. San Francisco makes the list for its bevy of parks, biking trials and water sports (wet suits required). A nod is given towards Sydney for its fine surfing, great beaches, and “beer-fueled karaoke.” Bringing up the rear is Barcelona. As much as I love this city, I was surprised to find it on the list. Included due to its “celebration of life outdoors,” the city boasts, in my opinion, some mediocre beaches, some mediocre bike trials and some amazing outdoor cafes and plazas in which to partake in the other wild activities for which the town is so well known.

If you want wild - and STUNNING beauty - you should have included any number of cities in Alaska. Just doesn't get any wilder than that.

Been to Rio:Can't get enough of it. Been to Sydney: Adored it. Been to SF: Great city, weather stinks. And been to Barcelona: It's the greatest city in the world ... I'll retire there if the dollar isn't still getting slammed by the Euro. And if it is ... then I'm headed to Rio for the six months they'll let me stay there.
Guess I have to get to Cape Town soon!

Hong Kong is the best "City" on the planet. There is great hiking, camping, water sports, fresh and salt water fishing, canoeing, running, bicycling, horse back riding and Harleys too. Not to mention the actual "City" activities - restaurants of every description, bars to fit every desire for male and female - or whatever open 24/7. Shopping till your broke unless your Bill Gates. Museums, theater, art galleries and numerous other cultural activities. Hong Kong is the most eclectic city there is!!!

Morocco is a beaufiful country rich in culture. Loved it there and look forward to going again soon. Shopping there is very inexpensive.

This probably isn't neccessary to post. But I am annoyed. To everyone suggesting "wild cities" because they have great nightlife, read the first paragraph of the article! They are talking about the outdoors.
