500 Posts: A quick look back

It's wild to think I've been writing here for six months now...earlier this week I published my 500th post. Jeez. I thought I'd take a few quick minutes to look back at some of the travel goodness I've enjoyed dishing up since I began writing here back in August. Actually, I didn't really dish anything...no hot-off-the-press travel gossip or breaking news stories from me. I've just been lucky enough to have this opportunity get to share my personal perspective on travel -- the places I dream about, the people and ideas that inspire me, the travel books that I just can't wait to read. I love the One for the Road feature we started a few months back, and although my  Engaged Traveler of the Week feature never really took off, I continue to take a strong interest in do-good travelers making a difference while roaming the planet. I especially enjoyed writing about the places I visited in 2005: New Orleans, Las Vegas (only a mention) San Diego, La Jolla and Portland, and was fortunate that you all didn't  write me off after my endless blabber about my lovely Jersey Shore. (The photo is one I took in Avalon, NJ.) Oh, and how I could I forget my very first post about my summer stay at The Hershey Hotel. That seems like ages ago...I've also gotten great gear suggestions from our travel savvy readers, and appreciate all the the comments and suggestions I've received over the past six months...it's been fun traveling with you.
