When I decided to list some of my favorite moments here on the site I didn’t realize how many I would want to list.
While I can’t go through tracing every new blog discovery that got my panties in a bundle this year I can provide you
with some of my personal favorites along with some pretty awesome features by my fellow travel blogging partners in
crime. So after several days of reflecting on my favorite Gadling moments I have finally selected these five:
- Escape
Route – One of the most dynamic photographic travelogues I have seen to date. I’m curious to see what the
dPhoto project will be like once complete. Stumbled On via: Cool Hunting. Click here for my Gadling post. - Gadling Podcast: Intv. Fabien Cousteau –
Picking my favorite podcast was pretty tough. Erik did such an amazing job with them all through the course of the
year, but he really captured my attention when he interviewed Fabian Cousteau,
grandson of Jacques Cousteau. Fabian had recently designed a real, operating shark submarine and Erik dived in for the
scoop. Again, excellent podcast. - The Degree Confluence Project – On my
first mention of this project (which has been going on for quite sometime) you would have thought I had died and gone to
travel heaven. You would have even thought that I would have gone and purchased a GPS device and found some confluences
myself. I didn’t this year, but this activity is at the top of my leisure list for 2006. Stumbled On direct: DCP. Click here for my Gadling post. - Kelly Amabile & One for the Road – What
better addition to the team than Kelly Amabile? Thanks to her daily One for the Road feature I can easily keep tabs on
an assortment of travel books. My recent favorite: Babar’s World Tour, who will be
celebrating his 75th birthday next year. - Cruising the Straits of Hormuz,
Oman – So this makes my list because I have been fascinated by it since it’s original post back in February. I’ve long been
planning a dream trip to Iran and several historical sites and this one quickly got placed on the list. Cruising the
waters that rest between Oman and Iran on a dhow seems incredibly off-the-beaten track and an experience not to be
missed. Stumbled On via: Global Travel
