One for the Road: When Elephants Fly

fly

Carol Batrus decided to accept a job with a non-profit in Zululand when things were headed nowhere for her in the States. With no special training from her prior jobs on Wall Street and in the medical industry, Batrus headed to Africa to help promote and preserve sacred wilderness areas and native species. In When Elephants Fly, she chronicles her personal journey, as well as the story of the Zulu tribal communities she works with. Her memoir shares her personal perspective on making a radical change in daily life, and explains how cultural differences influenced her experience. Read a Q&A with the author here.
