Historic Thanksgiving Places
Budget Travel did a nice write-up on
historic
Thanksgiving locations. Here are links to the destinations they mention, three great places to consider for a
trip next year: The Berkeley Plantation in Virginia is the
site of the first official Thanksgiving in America in 1619, a year BEFORE the Mayflower landed at Plymouth. The
Jeffersonian Thanksgiving Festival takes place before and after
Turkey Day in downtown Charlottesville, VA. And of course, Plimouth
Plantation in Plymouth, MA, where the Mayflower did arrive so many years
ago. These are great spots to visit throughout the year to learn more about the holiday we celebrate today.

Well, once again, the Spaniards get no recognition. I believe that the first Thanksgiving in what is now the USA was performed by the Spanish party at Santa fe, New Mexico way before anything in Virginia or Massachusetts.
