Ebay Travel Auctions

Do you remember Cody, the slacker hippie who was bugging his sister so much that she auctioned off a vacation with him? I checked in to see how things went and discovered that they basically didn't. After four days, the entire vacation seems to have mysteriously vanished. I think Cody and B.K. Haynes were supposed to hang for a week, but all the blog says is that things are over, "contracts" are in the works and news about a new auction will be forthcoming. There is also a documentary supposedly in the works. So much for that, let's see if anything ever materializes.

I was reminded to check on Cody after reading about another slacker, this time a Brit named Martyn Cox, who wants someone to pay for him to travel. There are creative ways to get folks to sponsor your trip, but this is not one of them. He's got no angle — just a 5,000 pound minimum bid, five-days to go and no chance in hell that he'll even earn a buck (just my guess, unless someone feels sorry for the guy and throws him a dime or two) If he really wants to travel and can't afford it, there are a zillion volunteer or job opportunities to chose from. Expecting a handout like this is just silly. The zero bids to date tells it all, this guy best move on to plan B.

Finally, a quick mention about another Ebay auction. Now's your chance to own your own airline. A mere $1.25 million gets you an opening bid, and about $4 mil will get you a fleet of Cessnas and a bunch of other stuff needed to run a charter airline. Hurry up, time's flying — this auction ends tomorrow.
