Portugal in November
SmarterTravel pegs Portugal as the destination of the month for November and gives us plenty of reasons to consider a trip. The airfare and accommodation rates drop considerably after October, so if you haven't yet booked, read up on why it is best to wait one more month.
It begins to get quite cold in other parts of Europe, but the balmy St. Martin's summer blesses much of Portugal with mild weather through this month of holidays and festivals. November brings jazz, art, chocolate and horse festivals to all corners of the country. Additional November events not mentioned in the SmarterTravel piece are the National Gastronomy Festival, the Algarve World Golf Championship and Cinanima, the International Animated Film Festival. Travelers should also consider the Pousadas Pass for discounts on unique historic lodging throughout the country. It should be easy to find reduced flights to Lisbon and quality vacation packages.
