Lonely Planet Podcasts

lonely planet

It was just a matter of time before the grandaddy of travel guides got into the podcasting game, and it looks like their throwing their top talent at the task.

Lonely Planet has begun a new series of "travelcasts" featuring various LP writers, as well as the wit and wisdom (and voice) of Don George. The travelcasts will feature conversations with Lonely Planet authors on the road, interviews with experts who talk about their favorite places and, well, it sounds like they'll throw about everything out there and see what sticks. Which is cool.

I listened to this episode featuring an interview with Paul Clammer who was in Nigeria for the travelcast. Clammerr talks about his efforts to do research on the road, and I thought it was a fabulous glimpse at the life of a LP writer.

Podcasting is a natural for LP, I think, since they have legions of people out there investigating the nooks of the world, and I expect some good things from these podcasts.

You also might remember that we did a podcast ourselves a while back with Mr. George. I'm not gonna say we gave him the idea to do a podcast, but….;-)
