Isfahan's Abbasi Hotel
A while back an old co-worker of mine who was teaching me Farsi used to bring me fancy
brochures and stories on Iran, fueling my own desires to one day visit the country.
Every now and again I'll pull them out to keep the sparks alive though it doesn't take much. I've always been
interested in the Middle East from the architecture, to the culture, to the food. There is one brochure that I
keep nestled close at hand in case I decide to take off fast and Iran happens to be the destination. The Abbasi
Hotel.
The five-star Abbasi Hotel located in Isfahan, a city also known as "half of the world," was built during the Safavid's reign in Persia. Construction began in 1337 (based on the Persian calendar, I believe) and completely finished in 1379. Originally a school and caravansary for the king's mother, architects worked hard to preserve the originality of the outward facade. With that amount of time and thought placed both into the exterior and interior the Abbasi is endowed with such high quality and quantity which deserves much attention and a one night stay at the very least.
All reasonably priced for a five-star hotel with international standards, the hotel has 186 single/double rooms ranging from $80-$120 a night. I can't begin to describe the beauty of the place. Let's just keep it this way, if you plan to go to Isfahan make your reservations early.
