Notes from the Road...Redux
We blog about places here on gadling, and then it seems we forget about them. You can always search for certain
terms on the site, but if you don't know something cool exists, how are you going to search for it? And so it behooves
us to check back from time to time on some great sites that we've mentioned in the past and to see how they're coming
along.
One of the sites we really enjoy is Notes from the Road, Erik
Gauger's site about his travels. It's not really a
blog, per se, and the writing is good, but not as good as many other places. But the photography is what makes the site
stand out. Each section of the site features a single, gorgeous photograph that he programs in at the size of the full
page. Oddly (to me anyway), Gauger does not shoot with a digital camera. Instead, he uses a large format Toyo AX, an
old-style traditional print film camera that weighs forty pounds. But the effort to lug this beast around pays off in
some of the richest, most vivid photos you will see anywhere on the Web.
