Joe Trek: Skating Around Australia

Joe Trek

I pointed to the great new adventure travel site Stellar Magazine a bit ago because I thought it was really worth a look. One of the things I like most about it are the short, and excellent, videos on characters like Scot Schmidt.

But there is also a very cool Webumentary at Stellar that you ought to check out. It is called Joe Trek and follows the adventures of inline skater Joe Rehana, a 20-something adventurer who once skated across the United States. His newest adventure takes him to Australia, where he is attempting to be the first guy to skate around the entire continent of Australia. Yes, you heard that right. Around Australia. We're talking about almost 10,000 miles of skating from Sydney to places like Tennant Creek, Broome, Carnarvon, Perth, Albany, and on and on, with him finishing back in Sydney approximately ten months later. At Stellar, you can follow his trip reading dispatches, seeing photos and watching the countdown clock tracking his progress. An excellent Flash interactive also let's you follow his progress. This is one worth checking out.
