Dancing Matt
Well, there are gimmicks and then there are gimmicks. It's
easy to look at this series of videos (quite large files, btw) by Matt Harding and to dismiss them as bizarre American
silliness, but I contest there is a genuine artistic subtext to what he has done here.
Despite the appearance of mindless frolic, Matt's clever interpretation of a kind of vagabond two-step has endeard him to millions (or at least hundreds) who have downloaded his dancing video and found in it a message of world peace and harmony. Yes, in his own way, Matt seems to have found a way to spread joy and hilarity across the globe. Let no one see Americans as mindless buffoons set on world domination. The reality is, all we want to do is dance.

Dancing across the world. A worthy pursuit. One I wish I could ditch my job, family, mortgage, etc to pursue. I ffind myself living through the exploits of dancing Matt. I think his project does make a statement. We are all the same. Deep down inside, decent people want happiness and dancing (in their own way). I don't know what he's saying. But there is joy. And it is modern, but it is NOT mindless So it must be good.
